My father was a sailor….it was truly his passion. I tried to capture his love of the ocean and ships in this song, and the fact that though he has passed on now, we will, I believe, re-connect again someday. In one line of the song I write, “My soul will tell me how to navigate the night,”…I believe this is what will happen to all of us someday, when we pass on.
SAILING AWAY
by Jennifer Avalon & Noel Boland
The boat has left the shore, the harbor lights grow dim
Soon visible no more, I sail upon the wind
The solitude of night, beneath the watchful stars
With only lantern light, this boat will travel far
The whisper’s in the air, of sailors gone before
An ocean mist prepares, to open hidden doors
I tremble as I feel, the coolness of the tide
I take the Captain’s wheel, with angels by my side
OH SAIL, SAILIN’ AWAY
MY HEART IS NOT AFRAID
STAND FAST, COME WHAT MAY
WE’LL MEET AGAIN SOMEDAY
SAILIN’ AWAY
The moon shines through the clouds, and ripples on the bay
I hear the peaceful sound, of gliding through the waves
I point the starbird bow, beyond the watchhouse light
My soul will tell me how, to navigate the night
