Shalimar

The song “Shalimar,” from the CD Phoenix Rising, was written with the idea that true peace of mind comes from within… that in each of us is a sacred place where our souls reside… and in that place is where peace of mind can truly be found. In ancient India, from what I understand the gardens of Heaven were referred to as “Shalimar,” hence I used that word to describe that special, peaceful place.

SHALIMAR
by Jennifer Avalon & Noel Boland

All around the world
There’s a feeling, something’s going down
No one’s really sure
How to turn the madness around

If we could only we find
A sacred state of mind

SHALIMAR
IT ISN’T VERY FAR
AN OASIS OF THE HEART
SHALIMAR

A hunger in the soul
When the spirit doesn’t have enough
Sadness takes its toll
In the end the only cure is love

The answer’s deep inside
If we just take the time

SHALIMAR
IT ISN’T VERY FAR
AN OASIS OF THE HEART
SHALIMAR
SHALIMAR
NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE
EACH OF US IS PART
OF SHALIMAR

Bridge: Look for the hidden signs, that guide us down the road
The truths we left behind are what we need to know
